E5 Introduction to E3A Personal Development and Wellness

Prerequisites: None
Length/Format: 2 hour teleclass
This course is an introduction to some of the tools equine experiential education trainers need to create, prepare and conduct Personal Development and Wellbeing (PDW) group workshops and individual sessions using Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) techniques. The foundational tools for Personal Development and Wellbeing (PDW) programs are presented, including the Philosophical Pillars, Definitions, Models and Tools required for presenting EAL Personal Development and Wellbeing Programs. The templates used in E3A's model allow trainers who already present PDW programs to enhance their work with group and individual clients using facilitative coaching and horse activities in combination within a workshop process model.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define the meaning of, and context within which, human personal development and wellbeing occurs
  • Understand the difference between equine experiential coaching vs. equine-assisted psychotherapy
  • Understand the E3A Transformative Model: Awareness, Alignment and Action
  • Understand how individual change occurs - the Personal Change Model

E6 Creating Personal Development and Well Being (PDW) Equine Experiential Education Workshops

Prerequisites: E5 Introduction to Personal Development and Wellbeing Teleclass, E3A Level 1 Certification (C1, C2 and C3) or C1, C2 and another recognized EAL certification (i.e. PATH, EAGALA, EGEA, EPONA, EAHAE)
Length/Format: 3 day arena class
This three day arena class will cover ways to successfully create and set up your personal development workshops to cover topics like; boundary setting, overcoming obstacles, goal-setting, relationships, spiritual issues and other topics that are typical in personal growth workshops. Equine Assisted Learning is very powerful and you can lead your participants too deep if you aren't skilled in the way you ask debriefing questions. You'll learn new horse activities designed especially for that context, how to modify existing horse exercises for this type of workshop and how to facilitate and debrief exercises without ending up in "therapy territory".

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply and practice E3A's facilitation approach to Personal Development & Wellbeing workshops
  • Learn new horse activities, adapting existing activities, and conducting debriefs appropriate for the Personal Development and Wellbeing model 
  • How to select and use various assessments with your clients to promote growth and development

Introduction to CliftonStrengths

Prerequisites: None
Length/Format: 1.5 hour teleclass
Description: This workshop is designed to build your confidence in incorporating the CliftonStrengths Assessment Tool into your EAL workshops. CliftonStrengths is an online assessment instrument created by researchers at Gallup that identifies an individual's unique skills, talents and knowledge allowing them to then leverage their strengths and talents to become more productive and engaged. This class uses the book StrengthFinders 2.0 by Roth or Strengths-Based Leadership by Roth and Conchie (2008). Each book comes with a code that allows you go to online and take the CliftonStrengths inventory. A report that explains your top 5 strengths is issued and explained in the 1.5 hour teleclass.  (You must purchase a NEW copy of the book to receive the assessment code.)

CliftonStrengths with EAL

Prerequisites: CliftonStrengths Teleclass
Length/Format: 2 day arena class
Description: This two day workshop introduces you to best practices in using the E3A model to develop your ability to bring about transformation in your clients using a strengths-based approach in your EAL work.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discover your individual strengths
  • Learn how strengths play into defining team roles
  • Understand how to build and reinforce a strengths-based culture at work or in equine assisted learning workshops.

Assessing Team Culture

Prerequisites: None
Length/Format: 1.5 hour teleclass
This enrichment teleclass is based on the book The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team by Lencioni (2002). Knowing about Team Culture is necessary to be able to bring about change in groups and teams. For those EAL practitioners who currently work with or want to work with corporate groups, businesses nonprofit groups, nonprofit Boards or the military this a valuable model to add to your EAL toolbox.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the E3 Corporate Training Workshop Process
  • Recognize how the book aligns and supports E3 Corporate Training Programs
  • Apply the book concepts using E3 facilitation techniques & choose E3 Corporate Training horse activities


Remember the Horse in Equine Assisted Learning

Prerequisites:  Certification from a recognized EAL/EAP program (i.e. E3A, PATH, EAGALA, EPONA, EGEA, EAHAE)

For those of you who have been doing Equine Assisted Learning or Equine Assisted
Psychotherapy for awhile, E3A's Remember the Horse in Equine Assisted Learning is a great way to refresh and learn new ways of incorporating horse behavior into your debrief sessions to elicit maximum transformation in your clients. Call to schedule this two day workshop at your facility, designed to assist you and your colleagues in grounding the role that horses play in co-facilitating our workshops and bringing about change.

  • Understand the unique power that horses bring to equine experiential education experience.
  • Develop insight and awareness of our equine partners in order to integrate their unique gifts into this work.
  • Understand how the E3A Facilitation model uses herd culture and dynamics within its programs.

Monthly Member Networking Meetings

Designed especially for our members, we have Networking Meetings every month. These are free for our members.  Come for a live in person virtual Meet N' Greet on ZOOM. Here's your chance to meet like-minded folks in your neighborhood or working in a similiar area of interest.  Come with a question get some feedback. Share your successes and ask for help. Occasionally, we'll have a guest speaker, other times a group discussion. These are 1 hour meetings covering a variety of topics including:
