An international client recently hired me to do two equine-assisted leadership development workshops. After months of scheduling challenges my co-facilitator and I were finally able to book our tickets three days before our departure.
My ADAPTABILITY and RESPONSIBILITY strengths enabled me to persist in working with my client to make these workshops happen.
My co-facilitator’s EXECUTING strengths were of great support throughout the entire process.
The day before I was scheduled to fly out, I learned that I would not be allowed into the country because I received my last covid booster shot only 10 days earlier — not the required 14 days. Using my RELATIONSHIP as well as my ADAPTABILITY and SELF ASSURANCE strengths, I reached out to a fellow E3A facilitator and asked if she could fill in for me — AND jump through the multiple hurdles necessary to be on an international flight the next day.
Using several of her top STRATEGIC strengths, she was able to appreciate the broader implications of what this would mean for me and my client if I had to cancel the trip. Her partner sprang into action utilizing his three top EXECUTING strengths of CONSISTENCY, ADAPTABILITY and DELIBERATIVE and his RELATIONSHIP strengths of EMPATHY and HARMONY to get everything accomplished just hours before she boarded the flight.
Knowing my own and my team members’ strengths makes leading so much more effective — and fun! Everyone gets to perform at their best doing what they enjoy most. Leveraging the STRENGTHS of your team and of your horses is one of the keys to success in your EAL business.
