E3A – Equine Experiential Education

Member Spotlight: Mindy Chernoff

E3A: What is the name of your program/farm, where are you located and what kind of EAL work do you do?

Mindy: My farm is: Chunk of Heaven Horse Farm. My business is: The Resonant Horse, LLC. I am located in the southeastern part of Pennsylvania, U.S.A., in Newtown Square… Soon to relocate to another suburb outside of Philadelphia– Phoenixville, PA. I am E3Acertified, am an Eponaquest Apprentice, and I offer private sessions, retreats, workshops, “Horse Circles,” and lessons at the farm. All of those listings involve my partners, the horses, With the exception of the lessons, all the learning is unmounted.

E3A: How long have you been doing EAL work and when did you receive your E3Acertification?

Mindy: I received my E3A certification a few years ago. Previous to that, I had been doing EAL work for approximately 10 years. E3A gave me the template to continue the work and dive deeper with the learnings.

E3A: How has your E3A certification enhanced the services you offer your clients?

Mindy: Too many ways to mention, but I shall try! First of all, the curriculum is the most extensive, broad and all-inclusive that I have ever come upon in my EAL education. The vast amount of information that E3A has is indispensable to my operation. In addition, the relationships I have found and fostered within the E3A community have sustained and supported me in so many ways. I am so grateful for those friendships!

E3A: How have the horses impacted your client’s lives?

Mindy: I had client who was depressed and suicidal, and made the decision to come to one of my horse circles. In 30 minutes, she connected with one my horses in a way which caused her to do a 180 degree pivot in her life. The sense of being “seen” and felt by the horse was so profound that it changed her life forever.

The horse circles I offer to the public transform lives in big and small ways all the time. Some attendees, like the woman above, are affected instantly. For others, the sense of positive impact may be more subtle. A lightness, an ability to let go, a renewed sense of gratitude. Many contact me days or even weeks after they have been out to the farm, to express their thankfulness.

Another client was an 11 year old with a myriad of challenges. Difficulty at home, aggressive behavior, disrespect, out of control with siblings. We began with exercises on the cross ties, where he started a relationship with one of my horses. Learning about boundaries, setting goals, realizing how we impact the “other”–in this case, 1200 pounds was a way for him to channel his energy in positive ways. When we moved out into doing work in the round pen, his learning continued as he became responsible for his actions and his movements. He learned that what he does, say, and how he moves has consequences. His parents were very happy with the changes they began to see at home. Greater boundaries were being set, and the horses were leading the way.

In summary, no matter who the client is, if they are able to be open, curious and non-judgemental (the way horses live all the time) their lives can be improved. Dramatically. Greater clarity, a sense of purpose and meaning, insight, awe, wonder…the list goes on and on with how horses, the Master teachers, impact lives.

E3A: Are you open to having other members contact you to find out more about what you do? If so, what is the best way they can contact you?

Mindy: Of course! What I do means nothing if I cannot be of service to others. I can be reached at my website: theresonanthorse.com, or via email: theresonanthorse@gmail.com, or 610-247-0408.
